Endorsing Harris

First, let me start with an apology I had been off for a while and trying to figure out what I wanted to do with this blog and if I wanted to continue. After some time, I figured I did and, want to keep informing others and getting people engaged in their communities. You can continue looking here for political, economic, and personal finance articles but also the occasional update on me and spiritual, physical, and mental health tips and advice.

So this being my first article back and being so close to the election I want to make my endorsement for president. It should come as no surprise that I am backing the Democratic nominee for president Vice President Harris. I think that Biden and Harris made tough decisions with an evenly divided Congress that helped them get through the COVID era and the repercussions of such. Yes, we did experience some inflation as a result of their COVID Bill, their Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal, the Inflation Reduction Act, and the CHIPS Act but they were worth it. Not just because they allowed families and individuals to have a little cushion for the inevitable inflation but also because they started many long-term projects to help keep us the economic dynamo we are.

I also want to note, that Biden and Harris came into a situation where the priority was dealing with the pandemic, and she is aware that her term will be focused on bringing down costs, the economy, and immigration. This is why she is focused on her opportunity economy and fixing our immigration system. Here are some of her objectives.

Housing and rental costs. She plans to expand tax incentives for affordable housing and attack housing cartels that engage in price fixing. In addition, give tax credits to first-time home buyers.

Child care costs to expand the child tax credit and give a 6,000 dollar child tax credit for middle and low-income families.

Tax reform expands the earned income tax credit, along with increasing small business loans.

Healthcare costs allow Medicare to negotiate prices, cancel medical debt, and add long-term care to Medicare.

The minimum wage increased to 15 because it has not kept pace with inflation and isn’t a livable wage.

Grocery prices pass the Price Gouging and Prevention Act and investigate price fixing.

Immigration reform pass the Bipartisan Immigration bill Trump killed, and a pathway to citizenship.

I want to cite one of my favorite podcasters, who also endorsed Harris. Unemployment is at 4.1%, inflation is at 2.2%, GDP is better than any other developed nation, the stock market is hitting career highs, and wages are outpacing inflation.

It is all of these reasons and her skilled leadership in keeping our alliances especially NATO and in Asia together that lead me to my decision to not only vote for but endorse Vice President Harris for president. She has shown a willingness to work with Democrats and Republicans in a narrowly divided government to find solutions that help all Americans. The leadership she has demonstrated over her time in public service and the seriousness with which she takes her role show she is more than capable and will excel in the role she aims for.

(PS As a Black man it’s nice to see a Black woman with a family, career, and education that serves as a role model for my community and others too.)
